How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or a missed cab ruin your day? And how often you even let inanimate objects do the same to you? Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're probably set back on your heels.
Many people(including me sometimes) are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you.
When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did. I guarantee it. So this was it: The "Law of the Garbage Truck."
I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at work, at home, on the streets? And how often am i driving this garbage truck trampling people under it?
Spreading the garbage will not make the world a better place to live in. I don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on. Be happy. This will make you happier.
P.S. Somedays you are the bird, on other days you are the statue.
Well-O-Well..
ReplyDeleteI too without a doubt fall into this category and tend to get irked at the most trivial matters for ex: having to wait at a red light which I could have easily crossed hadn't been for that old man driving at his own slow pace..
It helps to observe yourself at times like these as once you realise that you are falling in a trap you will automatically try to step out of it..
Plus it always helps to maintain your calm when someone else dumps their trash on you...
Never knew there's a law by this name, gives a kinda smelly feel though[:)]
